Abstract
The Periodontal Patient Candidate for Orthodontic-Implant Therapy
Periodontal damage is an expression of disease caused by multiple predisposing factors present in the individual and not controlled. It is therefore important to insert the periodontal patient in a path in which the risk factors predisposing to the damage are brought into control. Orthodontic movement can be a protective factor but at the same time a risk factor if not introduced at the right time and in a well-defined path for the type of patient. At the same time, orthodontics in these patients is often functional to the implant rehabilitation of lost elements, in order to re-establish the correct functional masticatory loads. Therefore, the choice of timing, Tps and active principle used for patients who are candidates for these complex work plans with multiple branches of intervention is fundamental. The role of the hygienist becomes central as he is often the only figure involved throughout the duration of the different phases of the treatment.
